Get Off My Land - Short Film Recreation Evaluation

 Todorov's Narrative

 Equilibrium - Couple are going on a walk through a field, thinking that it is a public footpath.

Disruption - Man drives up in his car and tells them they can't be there.

Recognition - Man points a gun at them, saying that he'll fight them if they don't leave.

Attempts To Repair - Woman reassures him that they're going, so he doesn't need to shoot them.

New Equilibrium - The couple is dead and the man goes off, keeping his land private.

 Mise-En-Scene
Setting - The setting is a field/public footpath in the day time.

Props - The props used are a gun and a car.

Costume - The farmer is wearing a hat and rain coat and wellies. The man and woman are wearing casual clothes i.e. a jacket, coat and jeans.

Overall Evaluation

 I think the film was recreated to the best of our abilities. Some things that could be improved upon are the casting, setting and makeup. We were unable to find an older man to play the farmer so had to settle with an older woman and if done again I would have preferred the man and woman to be older. The sound was interfered with because we filmed on a day that had torrential rain. So if we were to do it again I would film on a clearer day. The person responsible for the makeup was unable to supply the fake blood so we just had to do without.

The Ellington Kid

Narrative Equilibrium – Two boys are sitting in a café, one has a burger, the other just has chips. Disruption – One boy notices that the other has a burger and begins to tell him the story. Recognition – The boy realises that the other is implying that the boy who got stabbed the other day is in the burger. Attempts to Repair – He spits the burger out. New Equilibrium – He tells him it was just a joke, but the camera pans to a worker who is sharpening knives and has a smirk on his face, leaving the audience to decide for themselves if it was true or not.  The boy who was stabbed is the princess as he is the one who needs saving. The villains are the boys who stab him and come to finish him off. It may seem like the café workers are the heroes at first, but it turns out that they may also be the villains as well.  Lighting The café needs to be lit as that is the reason the boy goes in, as he knows there...
